If your delivery’s arrived and the box is staring at you in the hallway, you don’t have to lose your weekend to it. I assemble flat pack furniture across Horsham and the surrounding West Sussex villages — wardrobes, beds, bookcases, dining tables, office furniture, garden sets, BBQs, gym equipment, the lot. I bring my own tools, build it where you want it, anchor what needs anchoring, and clear the cardboard if you’d like it gone.

Why Horsham keeps me busy

A lot of my Horsham work falls into two camps. There’s the new-build crowd — families moving into the developments at Kilnwood Vale, Highwood, Wickhurst Green and Broadbridge Heath, with a full house of furniture deliveries landing across a fortnight. Then there are the families in the older terraces around the Carfax and along the side streets off Springfield Road, where the staircases are narrower and pieces need to be carried up properly without scuffing the walls.

Both come with their own quirks, and a good chunk of what I do is just knowing those quirks before I start. The wardrobe that won’t fit up the stairs assembled but will fit assembled-in-the-room. The PAX run that needs to be levelled because the new-build floor isn’t quite as level as it looks. The Ottoman bed that needs a second pair of hands for the gas struts. These are the things you only learn by doing.

What I assemble

Pretty much anything that arrived flat in a box, from any retailer — IKEA, John Lewis (the Holmbush branch delivers across Horsham daily), Argos, Wayfair, Habitat, Next, Made, Dunelm, Bensons for Beds, B&Q, Homebase and most of the independents.

The jobs I’m most often called for in Horsham:

Bedroom furniture. PAX wardrobes — hinged and sliding door — are the most common single job. Also MALM and HEMNES bedroom sets, chests of drawers, dressing tables, and Ottoman beds, which are easily the trickiest standard bed type because of the gas-strut mechanism.

Living and dining. Bookcases, TV units, BESTÅ systems, sideboards, dining tables and chair sets. For glass-topped tables, levelling matters more than people think — an uneven floor puts stress on the glass and that’s how you get cracks later.

Home office furniture. A lot of Horsham is commuter-belt working-from-home territory now. Desks, ergonomic chairs, filing cabinets, shelving, and full home-office fit-outs. I can usually do a whole room in a single visit.

Garden and outdoor. Rattan corner sofas, dining sets, parasols, gazebos, BBQs and pizza ovens, sheds, trampolines, climbing frames. Garden furniture has its own challenges outdoors — uneven patios, wind, and load-bearing fittings on swing seats and loungers — and I cover all of that on my garden furniture assembly page.

Gym equipment. Treadmills, multi-gyms, power racks, cross trainers and rowers. Heavier and more safety-critical than most furniture — see the gym equipment assembly page for the detail on why correct bolt tension matters here.

Nursery and children’s furniture. Cots, cot beds, changing tables, bunk beds, children’s wardrobes. Everything that needs wall-anchoring gets wall-anchored properly.

What it costs

Fixed price per job, agreed before I start, no call-out fee. A bookcase or chest of drawers is a quick visit. A standard double wardrobe sits in the middle. A full PAX run with sliding doors and internal drawers is a longer job, and a whole-house fit-out for a new build is priced as one big job rather than piece-by-piece.

Send me the product details and your postcode and I’ll come back with an exact number — usually within the hour during working hours.

Areas I cover around Horsham

Horsham town centre (RH12 and RH13) plus all the surrounding villages and developments: Broadbridge Heath, Southwater, Kilnwood Vale, Highwood, Slinfold, Warnham, Rusper, Mannings Heath, Cowfold, Faygate, Roffey, Christ’s Hospital, Itchingfield, Barns Green, West Grinstead and the rest.

Beyond Horsham, I cover the wider West Sussex and Brighton area — including Crawley, Billingshurst, Pulborough, Storrington, Haywards Heath, Burgess Hill, Worthing, Shoreham, Lancing, Bognor Regis, Arundel, Chichester and Brighton & Hove. No travel surcharge within the area.

Why people in Horsham book me

I’m local and I do this every day. Not a weekend handyman with a drill and a hopeful attitude. I’ve put together hundreds of PAX wardrobes, dozens of Ottoman beds, and more rattan corner sofas than I can count. The brands and the common pitfalls — over-tightened cam locks on MALM, the panel orientation on KALLAX, the IKEA “missing screw” that’s usually just bagged with a different piece — I’ve seen all of it.

£1 million public liability insurance. Your property’s covered while I work. Worth checking with any tradesperson — it’s the thing people forget to ask about until something goes wrong.

12-month workmanship guarantee. If something I assembled works loose within a year through how I built it, I’ll come back and put it right. In writing.

5-star Google rating from real customers across Sussex.

Fixed prices, no call-out fee. You know the cost before I start. If a job takes me longer than I expected, that’s my problem, not yours.

7 days a week. Evenings, weekends, bank holidays. Most of my customers can’t take a weekday off, and they shouldn’t have to.

Disassembly for moves. If you’re moving within Horsham or out of the area, I disassemble and reassemble — labelling the fixings so reassembly at the other end is straightforward, not a treasure hunt.

FAQs

How much does furniture assembly cost in Horsham?

Fixed price per job, agreed before I start, with no call-out fee. A bookcase or chest of drawers is a quick visit and priced accordingly; a full PAX wardrobe run is a longer job. Send me the product details and your postcode and I’ll send back an exact price, usually within the hour.

Can you come today or tomorrow?

Often yes. Same-day and next-day slots are usually available depending on existing bookings, especially if you WhatsApp me early in the day. New builds delivering furniture in batches — Kilnwood Vale, Highwood, Wickhurst Green — I try to be flexible on as I know everything tends to arrive at once.

Do I need to provide tools or anything else?

No. I bring all my own tools — cordless drills, full bit sets, levels, clamps, the lot. Just have the furniture and the instructions handy if they came with any.

Do you assemble IKEA furniture?

Yes — IKEA is what I assemble most. PAX wardrobes (sliding and hinged), MALM, KALLAX, BESTÅ, BRIMNES, HEMNES, NORDLI, all of it. I know the fitting systems and the common alignment issues.

Are you insured?

Yes — £1 million public liability insurance. I can send the certificate if your landlord or property manager needs to see it.

Do you offer a guarantee?

12-month workmanship guarantee. If something I assembled works loose within a year due to how it was built — not normal wear or damage — I’ll come back and fix it at no cost.

Can you disassemble furniture for a house move?

Yes. I disassemble and reassemble for moves within Horsham, around Sussex or further afield, and I label the fixings so it goes back together properly at the other end.

Can you do a whole-house fit-out for a new build?

Yes, and this is one of my most common Horsham jobs. New-build owners in Kilnwood Vale, Highwood and Wickhurst Green often have multiple rooms of furniture delivered over a week or two. I’d rather come in and do the lot in one or two longer visits than dribs and drabs.

Do you cover Broadbridge Heath, Southwater and the villages?

Yes — all of them, and Slinfold, Warnham, Rusper, Mannings Heath, Cowfold, Christ’s Hospital and the rest. No travel surcharge within the Horsham area.
